Epoxy Based Injection Binder

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Product #3 Injection Based Injection Binder is a proprietary low viscosity, high modulus, quick strength, epoxy-based binder developed for structurally rebonding cracks, delaminations and hollow planes in Portland cement concrete. Can also be used in certain types of wood injection

For use where ever an ASTM C881-78 Type I, Grade I, Class A, B or C grade epoxy resin is required. (Under ASTM C881-88 Product #3 meets the physical requirements for both Type I, and Type IV classifications.) It is capable of penetration and performance in concrete separations 5 mils and greater. Product #3 is chemical and abrasion resistant. When used in conjunction with proper equipment, it is capable of application and performance when applied at temperatures as low as zero degrees F. #3 is insensitive to the presence of water and can be injected under water or against a hydrostatic head, when applied to temperatures above 32 degrees F.

MAJOR USES

  • Repairing structures such as dams, parking ramps, bridges, buildings, potable water tanks, grain elevators, etc.
  • Structurally rebonding of Portland cement concrete where hollow planes exist on bridge decks, parking ramps, and pier casings.
  • Injecting cracks in Portland cement concrete under water.
  • Injecting cracks and voids in otherwise sound wooden structural members.

APPLICATION

SURFACE PREPARATION: Drilling of cracks for injection ports is best accomplished with a vacuum attached to a swivel drill chuck and hollow core drill bits. The surface of the crack and the area around the injection ports should be sealed with Epoxy.comTM   Product #5, 6 or 48. Entry ports for injecting should be spaced at appropriate intervals to accomplish the full penetration of the resin. As with all injection resins, use of a plural component epoxy injection machine is the only way to insure desired results.

MIXING PROCEDURES: Supplied as two-package system. Pour Component "B" into the injection machine container labeled "B". Pour the Component "A" into the injection machine container labeled "A". Use special caution not to intermix components, or with different injection resins.

APPLICATION STEPS: ESITM   Product #3 should only be pumped with a positive displacement injection machine. See technical data on Concrete Injection Procedures.
